Happy 1st Birthday Miles

Miles celebrated his first birthday December 1. I can't believe my baby boy is a one year old. He is growing up so fast. He is starting to walk and he climbs on everything. His favorite thing is to climb up the stairs especially when he is running away from me or Steve. He can go up the stairs very well and without ease but he still does not know how to go down the stairs. He tries to go down head first. Kyle and Miles play really well together. They love to wrestle and chase each other. It is so fun and cute to see them interact. Miles has been a wonderful and added blessing to our family and I can't imagine life without him.

Kyle's staples...

Well, sorry it has taken so long to post pictures of Kyle's staples. He did so good getting them removed. He barely flinched when they removed them which shocked me, but made me so proud of him. He had them removed on November 25. You can barely see the scar on his head with his hair.

Another visit to the Insta Care...

Well, we visited the insta care for the second time with Kyle tonight. Kyle was running around the house with his cars and ran right into the corner of the wall. He hit the top of his head and has an inch to an inch and a half cut. He received 4 staples to close it up. Yes I said staples. He screamed when the doctor placed them but he didn't move. He just squeezed my arms and hands and luckily the staples were placed in less than a minute. He is a brave and special boy. Kyle is only 3 years old and he has had stitches and now staples. I see a future full of emergency room and insta care visits. We didn't take any pictures during, but I will take some pictures of the staples and his head tomorrow and post them later.

Update on the pregnancy

Two Saturdays ago I started bleeding and of course I was hysterical. We went to the hospital to check to see if the baby was still there, and we found a heart beat. It is a good, strong heartbeat. They put me on bed rest until my scheduled ultrasound in 9 days. I stopped bleeding until last Friday when I started spotting again. I called the doctor and he just placed me on strict bed rest until the ultrasound in 3 days. The doctors were thinking maybe I had placenta previa. Well Monday came and ultrasound time is here. The baby looks healthy and is very active. We got a good open shot of the sex. We are having a GIRL!!!!! I am so excited. Steve is still in shock, but is getting used to the idea. I do not have placenta previa, the placenta has ripped away from the uterus a little and just needs time to heal and reattach itself. I am not suppose to do any excessive lifting or heavy lifting, vacuuming, or laundry and I am suppose to take it easy. Easier said then done with 2 kids but Steve is really good about keeping me off my feet. We are really excited about having a girl and all the drama she will cause. She is all ready causing us drama and she is still in the womb!

Miles at 9 months

Miles just had his 9 month doctor visit. He is 19 pounds and 3 oz and 27.95 inches tall. He is in the 24th percentile for weight and 32nd percentile for height. He is a lot different then Kyle was at this age. If any of you remember Kyle, he was in the 80-90th percentile for both.

Anyway, Miles is full of personality and life. He is close to standing on his own and he walks around with furniture. I don't think it will be long before he takes his first step. He loves to climb up on things and pull things down, like our surround sound speakers or the floor lamp. He still has no teeth and it doesn't look like any are coming soon. He loves most of the baby foods, but he likes food from my plate best. He hates bananas, baby food or reel bananas. His favorite thing to do is play with Kyle. He will chase Kyle around the house and they wrestle together; it is so fun watching the interaction between the two of them.

Miles' first haircut

Before

During

After

Miles had his first haircut on July 25. I just trimmed up the top because it would just hang weird and it looked funny. He did really well and didn't seem to mind all that much.

Kyle's first day of preschool

Kyle had his first day of preschool on August 6. He has it once a week for 2.5 hours. He loves it. Every week when I pick him up he always asks when he can go back to preschool. There are about 12 kids in his class and even though he is one of the youngest, he is one of the biggest.

Our trip to Washington

Steve teaching Kyle to fish

Kyle caught something (I think it was the tree)

Mike helping Kyle fish

Miles asleep on Mike (our first night there)

Steve and Mike just before the wedding

We had a great trip to Washington. We were able to do a lot of things like camping, the zoo, a Mariners game, fishing(which Steve loved teaching Kyle), and just hanging out; but the main reason we went was for Steve's best friend Mike's wedding. We traveled a lot between Seattle and Bellingham which is just under a 2 hour drive. The kids traveled very well and it was a great trip.

Mariners Game

We lucked out that the Seattle Mariners playing in town while we were there. They played the Baltimore Orioles and Mariners won 8-4. It was a good game. We didn't get there until the bottom of the 5th inning, but it was enough. We also lucked out that at the end of the game they let us run the bases. It was cool. I don't know who had more fun the kids or Steve. Steve had a grin on his face the whole time.

Woodland Park Zoo

We went to Woodland Park Zoo while in Washington. We were able to get in free with our Hogel Zoo membership; we were glad about that because it is kind of expensive. Kyle had so much fun. He loves animals, any kind. It was a huge zoo. It took us all day long to go through it and I think we still missed some.

Camping in Washington

We went camping while we were in Washington. It was so beautiful. We camped right by the water. You looked across the water and saw Canada. We camped for 3 days and it only rained one of those days.

Unexpected News....but Exciting

I know I haven't posted for awhile, we have been in Washington for a family vacation. I will post pictures soon. First of all, we have some big news.....We are expecting baby number 3 in March; March 11 is the official due date. This pregnancy took us by surprise. We weren't quite expecting this but we are excited, some days better than others. I have been sick which is not abnormal for me. Steve has been great in helping me in any way he can. The kids have been good but I don't think they know what is going on except mom is not herself.

Our first visit to the InstaCare...

Well last night, Kyle slipped while trying to get into the bath tub and he hit his chin. Luckily it didn't bleed too much. Of course Kyle was naked, so I got him dressed, loaded Miles and Kyle into the car, and headed to the Insta Care (there is one just down the street from us). I called Steve at work and he met us there. Kyle did so good. The nurse put Lidocaine gel on the cut for about 15 minutes, then he got a Lidocaine shot and then 5 stitches!!! He didn't flinch or really even cry when the doctor was placing the stitches or giving him the shot. He is such a brave boy. Even today he didn't complain much about it hurting.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLE

Kyle's baby blessing. September 4, 2005

What a handsome devil

Kyle's first bath at the hospital. I love his monkey face!!!

July 1, 2005

Today my baby boy turns 3 years old. I can't believe how the time has flown by. He has changed so much from that tiny baby we brought home from the hospital and so much has happened in his short life. He weighed only 5 lbs 14 oz when he came home from the hospital. He had be be place on UV lights for 4 days at home to help his tiny body get rid of the excess bilirubin. It was scary because his bilirubin numbers kept going up when they should have been going down. I had to take him into the hospital everyday for 7 days to get his heels pricked for the lab draw to check his bilirubin level. I was unable to hold my baby for 4 days, while he was on the lights, except to feed him. Eventually everything turned out good and he was able to get off the lights.
When he was 6 months old he was diagnosed with RSV. Luckily he never had to be hospitalized. I would just sit and hold him and cry. I would stay up with him at night to make sure he continued breathing good through out the night. We had to give him albuterol nebulizers to help open his airway and help him breath better. You could tell that he didn't feel good because he would just sit on my lap and breath in the medication. The last couple of days that he was on the nebulizer, I had to pin him down to get him to do the breathing treatment. He eventually got over the RSV but his lungs have never been the same. Last March he was officially diagnosed with asthma. He doesn't have the typical type of asthma with the wheezing; his is more of an inflammation process. He would cough all the time and cough so hard it would make him throw up. It was so sad. His pediatrician said it is not uncommon for infants who have had RSV to get childhood asthma and that he may grow out of it. He is taking Flovent inhaler twice a day and what a difference that has made. He rarely has coughing attacks anymore and when he does we use an albuterol inhaler. For the most part Kyle does not mind "taking" his medicine. We make a game out of it.
He has grown into a healthy little boy. He is now a SOLID 37 pounds and he is ALL BOY. He loves cars, trucks, dirt, animals, dinosaurs, anything that can get him dirty, etc. He is a happy kid that loves to play, run and wrestle with his dad. He is his dad's shadow. He loves it when dad is home. Whenever Steve is at work all I hear all day long is "Where's Dad?". He loves watching the old animated Spider man, Batman, Superman, and GI Joe with Steve. It is so funny to watch both Steve and Kyle watching the cartoons. They both have the little kid grin while they are watching. He has the cutest little giggle and he is such a happy kid. I love him so much and feel truly blessed that I can be his mother.
Happy Birthday Kyle

Thanks for the suggestions...

Thank you all for your suggestions. So I started potty training Kyle on Saturday June 7 and Saturday and Sunday he had a few accidents. Monday he only had 2 accidents and now he goes days with no accidents. Hopefully I am not jinking myself. He has been so easy, so I am told. He wears underwear all day long and he still wears a diaper at night, but sometimes he keeps it dry. We will see. I tried using a little toilet for the first 2 days but he hated it; he wanted to use the big toilet like Dad and since then he has done fantastic. He gets a sticker and a chocolate everytime he goes pee on the toliet and a sticker and 2 chocolates everytime he goes poop on the toilet. I still ask him frequently if he needs to go, but most of the time he goes by himself.
We went camping over Father's day weekend and I think the outhouses scared him. We had to really push him to use them. We let him just pee outside once but he peed all over Steve so we didn't do that anymore. Overall he is doing great!

He has been the best kid for any transition in his life. I have really had it easy and so now I am afraid for the transitions with Miles. Hopefully he wont be a nightmare.

Potty Training Kyle..any suggestions..

The joy of the ExerSaucer

I finally went and bought an ExerSaucer for Miles. I used my sisters for Kyle, but she has a baby a month younger than Miles so I couldn't just borrow hers again. Miles loves it. He will just jump and spin around in it. It is so nice that there is something that keeps his attention for 15-20 minutes at a time.

Miles' first solid foods

Miles started eating solids at the beginning of April. He wasn't to sure about it. He didn't really care for the rice cereal so I switched him to the single grain oatmeal and he loves it. I have now started him on fruits and veggies and he loves them. His favorites are sweet potatoes and pears. He has oatmeal in the morning and fruits and veggies in the evening. I can't believe he is getting so big. He will be 6 months on Sunday. It is amazing how time flies!!!

Our boys

Kyle loves Miles so much. He loves to help take care of him by feeding him his cereal, getting him dressed, and giving him a bath. He also loves to hold him. I am just waiting for the day when Kyle decides to pick Miles up with out my help.

Taking up harmonica

Kyle has started to play Steve's harmonica. He loves it and can play pretty well.

Zoo - March 2008

Finally some nice weather. Steve and I took the boys to the zoo. We have a membership there and go quite often during the spring thru fall. It was Miles' first time to the zoo and Kyle loved showing him all the animals.
